Why was the former banker Mikhail Yakhontov killed?
On October 26, the family of Mikhail Yakhontov was murdered in an elite residential complex in Moscow. Together with the former chairman of the credit committee of Smolensk Bank, his 39-year-old wife Antonina Nosyreva and their 8-year-old son were killed.

The Investigative Committee later released photos of the premises where the crime was committed.

It is known that Yakhontov worked as the first deputy manager of the bank, while he owned more than 10% of the shares of the credit institution.  In 2016, he was accused of premeditated bankruptcy of the bank, as well as the withdrawal of 600 million rubles to the accounts of foreign companies.  In a civil suit, Yakovlev was supposed to pay more than 2 billion rubles, not counting the six-year imprisonment he received by the decision of the court.
According to the information of the bailiff service, published on the Internet, Yakhontov's debts under subsidiary liability with other persons involved in the high-profile case amounted to about 8.5 billion rubles.
This did not prevent the entrepreneur, who was released in 2021, from acquiring several plots of land in the Moscow region with an area of   7.5 hectares shortly before his arrest.

In September, Arbitration Court of Moscow declared Yakhontov bankrupt.  Until August 15, the ex-banker had to give the bankruptcy trustee information about his assets, which could become a material basis for paying off the debts.

According to sources of the law enforcement agencies, one of the grounds for the murder of the family could be precisely Yakhontov's financial debt to creditors, the bulk of which were individuals.  The version that the man committed suicide after killing members of his own family, which had been expressed initially, was soon considered unlikely.

In addition to the versions that the murder was committed with the intent of robbery or as revenge on the part of one of the creditors, who was disappointed with the impossibility of returning his savings, the media also state that Yakhontov was killed because of his visit to investigators.
Shortly before his death, Yakhontov visited Tekhnichesky lane, where the investigation department is located.
It is known that law enforcement agencies are investigating the disappearance of financial assets of one of the large holdings that carried out operations through the Smolensk Bank.  Thus, the testimony presented could lead to death.

We should note that the day before, the Kuntsevsky court of Moscow arrested the suspect in the murder of Yakhontov and his family.  Andrei Skripkin is suspected of a crime - he was detained in Belarus, where he supposedly went after the murder.  The person involved in the case may face life imprisonment.
