Why have the prices of goods increased in Russia?
Over the past month, a significant increase in prices for goods has been noted in various trade segments.  This applies to both clothing and footwear, as well as perfumes, cosmetics and even personal care products.  But what is the reason if many goods were not purchased, but stored in warehouses?

Since the end of February, prices for a large number of goods from different categories began to rise in Russia at once. First of all, this is due to the difficulties that the sellers themselves faced: suppliers began to transfer supplies to prepayment and pickup mode, which entails additional costs.

Through the price increase, the working capital that may be required in the future is generated.

In addition, according to some experts, the price increase is aimed at stabilizing sales in order to prevent the accelerated sale of balances in the absence of new supplies.

An additional factor that also affects the rise in price of goods is increased demand. Here, feminine hygiene pads, the cost of which in Moscow has doubled, can serve as a striking example. In a number of regions, their prices have remained at the same level.

The increase in prices on marketplaces may be due to higher transportation costs, as well as fluctuations in the exchange rate, Ozon explained.

Both of these factors largely affect the cost of goods, which, by the way, is formed by individual sellers.

To date, the Federal Antimonopoly Service has initiated over a thousand verification activities. The department believes that the saturation of the market with additional positions will also contribute to reducing the cost of goods. In this regard, the legalization of parallel imports can be a way out. The corresponding draft law has already been developed and submitted for consideration to the Cabinet of Ministers, Izvestia reports.
