Ukraine supported the idea of celebrating Christmas on December 25
The head of the Ukrainian schismatic Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Epiphanius, said that it was necessary to correct the ‘mistake’ and move the celebration of Christmas from January 7 to December 25.

The Metropolitan announced this in an interview with ‘Liberty’ radio (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation).  Epiphanius supports the transition from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar, noting that within 10 years in Ukraine there may be a transfer of Christmas from January 7 to December 25.
So far, the head of the OCU has called for educational activities.
The Metropolitan believes that the transition must take place correctly, and therefore the issue must be approached wisely.  He also added that in fact, Christmas is celebrated on December 25, just according to different calendars.  Now this mistake needs to be corrected.
On January 7, the holiday in Ukraine is celebrated by Orthodox believers, and on December 25, by Catholics and Protestants.
We should remind our readers that the OCU (Orthodox Church of Ukraine) was formed in 2018 as a result of the unification of the Kiev Patriarchate and the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church.  The ROC and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church do not support the transformation and believe that this can lead to a split in the Orthodox world.
