The price of a notarial will in Russia broke the record
According to Rosstat, since the beginning of the year, prices for making a will at a notary have increased by an average of 18%.  A similar increase was noted at the beginning of 2015.  The cost of the service varies in different regions, but in a number of regions, including Moscow, the price has not changed at all.

In the Tomsk region and Yakutia, the cost of services rocketed by 80% at once.

The price of a notarial service for making a will in Russia is not arbitrary.  It is regulated and consists of two indicators: state duty (established in the Tax Code), as well as legal and technical services.  The second part is to a greater extent variable and is set independently for each region.

This is done by the Federal Notary Chamber (FNC) and its regional branches, in turn, set local tariffs , while the cost should not exceed the fixed limit figures.
Based on the number of notarial acts performed in the region, the size of the subsistence minimum, as well as the social and economic status of the subject and other indicators, the FNC forms the upper limit of the price of a particular notarial act.
After that, the regional branches of the FNC set the rates, taking the marginal values into account.

A significant increase in the cost of notarization of a will in a number of regions is associated with a change in the cost of this service at the level of notary chambers of subjects.  During the pandemic, price growth for this category was frozen, and now they have begun to rise. It means that the regional chambers simply raised the cost levels within the limits set by the FNC, having ‘pulled’ them closer to the maximum in some cases, RBC reports.
