The court obliged Poland to pay 500 thousand euros daily
The court of EU obliged Poland to pay 500 thousand euros daily until the closure of the Turov coal mine. By means of this, it is supposed to force the country to reconsider its attitude to the further work of the enterprise.

Despite this, the Polish government has already indicated that it is not going to close the mine, since this will endanger the operation of the energy system not only within the country - the consequences will also affect the European Union. The Polish authorities intend to resolve the controversial issue that arose with the Czech Republic peacefully, but the issued resolution contradicts this, reports RIA Novosti.

The conflict over coal is based on the position of the Czech Republic, which believes that the expansion of production in a coal deposit can not only provoke difficulties with water, but also damage the surrounding territories, as well as nature.

As the Polish authorities explain, the Turov power plant, near which the coal mine of the same name is located, produces up to 7% of the country's electricity and supplies it to various state and private buildings and institutions, and also provides the Bogatynia settlement, which has no other alternative energy sources, with heating.

Work at the mine is expected to be continued for more than twenty years and the area of   coal production will be expanded to 30 square kilometers.
