Scientists have discovered an unusual source of radio waves in space
Australian astrophysicists have discovered a space source of radio waves that has strong magnetic radiation.  Scientists have never seen anything like this before: an unidentified object emits a radio signal three times an hour and presumably rotates.

The cosmic body is located quite close to Earth - at a distance of 4,000 light years, which, according to astrophysicist Natasha Hurley-Walker, is ‘our galactic backyard’.

The unusual find was discovered by Tyrone O'Doherty, a graduate student of Curtin University in Western Australia, but at first the scientific community did not pay much attention to this.

However, everything changed after it turned out that the object emits powerful bursts of energy with an interval of 18 minutes.

The scientific study was published in the Nature magazine.

According to Hurley-Walker, the way the detected space object behaves is unlike anything else that has previously been explored. This fact at first even frightened the scientists, but the theory with alien life was quickly ruled out. The fact is that the observations of the object took place in a wide range of frequencies, which indicates that we are talking about some kind of natural process, but not about an artificially created signal.

According to the scientists, the discovered celestial body can be either the remnant of a collapsed star or something completely new. Its study is underway.
