Global warming, the danger of which has been talked about for many years, remains questionable and may turn into a global cooling. The changes will affect the whole world, but to a greater extent, they will have an impact on Scandinavia and Russia.
This statement was made to the Ura.ru agency by professor of the Russian State Hydrometeorological University Oleg Pokrovsky.
At the same time, according to the scientist, European countries will be less affected by the cold snap. The warm waters of the Atlantic, to which Europe owes its mild climate, will help to reduce the effect of the global cooling as well.
Russia and Scandinavia will have a harder time - there the climate will become cooler.
The situation with climate change in the direction of decreasing temperatures unfolded in connection with the processes taking place in the North Atlantic and in the subpolar zone.
The water in the Arctic Ocean is getting cooler, which cannot but affect the air temperature, which also drops.
In addition, a change in the direction of movement of air masses was noted: earlier they moved from west to east, but now more often movements from north to south and from south to north are recorded. This change provides the amplitude of the "weather swing".
