Kherson region of Ukraine switches to payments in rubles From May 1
It became known that from May 1, the Kherson region of Ukraine is moving into the ruble zone.  This was stated by the chairman of the military-civilian administration of the region Kirill Stremousov.

Stremousov added that the transition will last about four months - during this period of time, both rubles and hryvnias will be accepted in the region.  But then the Kherson region will completely switch to payments in rubles.
The Kherson region in the south of Ukraine is completely taken under the control of the military from the Russian Federation.
In addition to switching to the ruble, Russian television and radio broadcasting has been launched in the region.  On April 27, military-civilian administrations were formed in the cities of the region.  It is reported that the inhabitants of the Kherson region are returning to normal life.

Oleksandr Kobets has been appointed the new mayor of Kherson, RIA Novosti reports.  He was a member of the city council.  Volodymyr Saldo, who had already headed Kherson until 2012, became the head of the region.  The military-civilian administration of the region noted that the former mayor of Kherson, Igor Kolykhaev, refused to cooperate.

Stremousov also stated that the return of the Kherson region "to Nazi Ukraine" is impossible.  Information about a possible attack on the region by the Armed Forces of Ukraine was refuted.
