Communist Party of the Russian Federation proposed to recognize the independence of DNR and LNR
The Communist Party of the Russian Federation came up with an initiative to recognize the independence of two border territories - the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. Last Wednesday, the relevant draft appeal of the lower house of parliament to the country's president was submitted to the State Duma. The document contains a proposal to recognize the independence of both territories.
Party members consider it necessary to put forward a proposal to start negotiations with the leadership of the republics. In their opinion, this is necessary to create documents that will regulate various aspects of interstate relations, including cooperation and assistance to each other.
The document has already been placed in the electronic database, and it is proposed to schedule its consideration for February this year.
The text of the draft states that the State Duma ‘expresses unambiguous and consolidated support’ for the measures that were taken as part of the support for a number of regions in both the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine. The deputies recalled that in 1994, people of these territories expressed their consent to the federal-land structure of Ukraine, while fixing the Russian language on the territory of the country on a par with Ukrainian. However, subsequently the attitude of the official authorities to this began to change, which provoked a referendum.
Now the Communist Party stands for the recognition of the subsequently formed DPR and LPR as sovereign and independent states.
