Camels were removed from beauty competition in Saudi Arabia due to Botox injections
40 camels in Saudi Arabia were banned from participation in the local beauty competition.  The reason was Botox injections in their lips and a ‘facelift’ treatment.

According to the Daily Mail, the royal camel festival has become very popular among the people of Saudi Arabia - thousands of people attend it every year.  The event includes camel races and a ‘beauty contest’. But this year, the jury had to exclude 40 camels from the competition.
The owners made the animals botox injections in the lips for augmentation and in the face for muscle growth.
The jury said that they did not approve of such measures, and would suppress all cases of falsification of camel beauty.  The main prize is $ 64 million.  The representatives of the competition believe that the use of cosmetology is not only unfair in relation to other participants, but also harms the health of the animals themselves.

As a result, 40 camels were banned from participation in beauty contest, and their owners will be punished, but it is not yet known what kind of punishment they would get.  It is worth noting that ‘plump lips’ are a kind of standard of camel beauty, and therefore breeders often try to pump them up artificially.
This summer, a public response was caused by photographs in which the camel's lips were torn - the owner went too far with injections.
In the beauty contest, the jury will judge the camels by head shape, hump, neck, posture and clothing.  Owners also use hormones to visually increase the muscles of animals.  To make some parts of the body look more textured, the camels are pulled with rubber bands.  In 2018, animals were already suspended from the competition due to botox.
