4 criminal cases over violence against prisoners have been initiated in the Saratov region

Law enforcement officers are investigating several criminal cases, the victims in which are prisoners. Two of them have been initiated under the article on abuse of power with the use of violence and two more - on the use of violent acts of a sexual nature.

Earlier, human rights activists published a video in which prisoners were raped with a mop handle.

According to preliminary data, the crimes were committed in a tuberculosis hospital, which is a part of the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Saratov Region.

The violence against the prisoners lasted for a year and a half and was recorded on camera for the purpose of subsequent blackmail, reports KP Saratov.

The videos showing the torture were published the day before by the leader of the human rights project Gulagu.net. According to human rights activists, they received gigabytes of materials with the torture of prisoners. The video was sent by one of the prisoners, who previously worked as a programmer.

At the moment, investigative actions are being carried out in prison: documents are seized, employees and prisoners are being interrogated.

What is more, it became known about the dismissal of the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service of the region, the head of the tuberculosis hospital and three employees of the department.

Earlier, three more criminal cases were initiated in the Saratov region with crimes of the same direction, the investigation on them is underway.
