The District Court of the Southern District of New York city received a class action lawsuit from the residents of Westchester County, in which they accused the representatives of the World Health Organization of negligence.
The plaintiffs are confident that the WHO did not provide timely information about the coronavirus and did not take any real actions to prevent the infections, which led to a large number of victims. Moreover, they believe that the organization was involved in hiding the information about real data on the epidemic in China. The victims demand reparation of damages for 756 thousand adult residents of the district as the compensation. The plaintiffs also stated that WHO did not prevent the spread of the virus, but rather contributed to it.
It is necessary to note that Westchester County, a suburb of New York, is considered to be one of the most affected areas- according to the recent data, the results of test for coronavirus of 24 thousand of the residents were positive. In total, almost 243 thousand cases were registered in the state of New York.
We should recall that earlier, president Trump announced that the financing of WHO is temporarily unnecessary
