Supreme Court of Russia will consider the suit of the Prosecutor General's Office against the ‘Azov’ Battalion
The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation plans to consider the case on recognizing the ‘Azov’ Battalion as a terrorist organization at the initiative of the General Prosecutor's Office. Hearing on this issue should be held in a closed format in a week.

The administrative case arose at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office, which considered it possible to declare the organization a terrorist organization, as well as to ban its activities in Russia.

We should recall that the day before the militants of ‘Azov’ began to surrender and leave the territory of the ‘Azovstal’ plant in Mariupol, where they were hiding. This became possible after the decision of Vladimir Putin to abandon the assault on the enterprise and give the military the right to surrender, laying down their arms. Some of them needed medical help, Izvestia reports.

According to the information available to the authorities of the DPR, the detained military are related to crimes committed against the civilian population.

If the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation recognize the ‘Azov’ Battalion as a terrorist organization, its members face criminal liability with serious terms of imprisonment under Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The minimum threshold for liability is 10 years in jail. As for the organizers, they can be sentenced to 15 to 20 years in jail.
