The Singapore company Osprey Networks, which had previously filed a bankruptcy petition with the Sakhalin arbitration court, was supported by the court on October 5. The defendant, represented by the ‘Moneron’ company, which is one of the largest fishing companies in the Far East, was taken under surveillance. The court has chosen Alexander Angelov as interim manager. He represents the SRO of professional arbitration managers in Moscow.
Last May, Rusbankrot published a material about the details of the lawsuit of a foreign company against the Russian fish producers.
The reason for the claim against the Far Eastern company was an advance payment of 26 million rubles. ‘Moneron’ has received a consignment of crab for delivery under contractual obligations. The trader from Singapore did not receive the required volume of products. As a result, the arbitration included debts in the amount of 1.9 billion rubles in the register of the accounts payable.
‘Moneron’ is the property of Dmitry Pashov, who received the status of People's Choice of the Sakhalin Regional Duma in 2017. The company is a part of a holding controlled by Oleg Kan's business. The entrepreneurs had previously received quotas from the state, which allowed them to fish out over 9,000 tons of crab per year. This, according to experts' calculations, is about 10% of the valuable biological resource extracted in the Russian Federation.
Last year, Forbes named the owner of Moneron the richest MP in the country. In 2019, he declared his official income at 6.2 billion rubles.
In the spring of 2021, the owner of the Moneron company and the head of the board of ARSO (an association uniting Sakhalin fishermen) were placed in a pre-trial detention center on charges related to the activities of the crab king Oleg Kan. Law enforcement agencies consider him to be the organizer of smuggling operations related to the supply of the Far Eastern crab to Japan and China. In addition, Kan is suspected of murdering businessman Valery Pkhidenko.
