Novye Izvestiya newspaper driven to bankruptcy by defenders of business reputation
The company-founder of the Novye Izvestiya newspaper was declared bankrupt by creditors who won a lawsuit to protect business reputation last year. The reason was the publication of a newspaper about the owners of a company building a residential park in Khamovniki.
The co-defendant in the case (No. A40-249595 / 20-5-1765) then was the ‘Glagol Media’ company. Both companies are currently on the verge of bankruptcy.
The very decision in the case of protection of reputation, published on June 17, 2021, contained many excerpts from publications that the court ordered to refute. We should recall that they dealt with the deliberate bankruptcy of the company initiated by the beneficiaries of the developer Knightsbridge Private Park and the deception of creditors.
It was reported that one of the plaintiffs, Andrey Kozlov, was a former criminal authority who interacted with organized crime in the Urals in the 1990s.
He and two other citizens (Dmitry Provodin and Enver Kuzmin), were said to control Khlebozavod No. 6 and Evrokhim-1 FD. The pages on the Internet where the articles were published are no longer available today.
The lawsuit against ‘Glagol Media’ LLC was filed by the same group of plaintiffs (six persons, including Evrokhim-1 FD) on January 13, 2022 in the amount of 750 thousand rubles. The court accepted it for consideration on January 20 (case No. A60-788/2022). The case file states that the amount of the claim is 4.2 million rubles. Moreover, the claims of five persons each amount to 150 thousand rubles, which fully corresponds to the amounts of the penalty imposed earlier in the case of protecting reputation.
The same persons jointly demand another 3 million as a court penalty.
The claim for the insolvency of the Novye Izvestiya newspaper was submitted to the court on February 14. It has not yet been accepted for consideration by arbitration. It is possible that both companies are diligently avoiding liability, which is the reason for the current bankruptcy lawsuits. In the event that it comes to the legal recognition of both firms as insolvent, several more organizations may be added to the list of print and electronic media that have been closed down over the past few years.
