ECHR will continue considering claims against Russia
The suspension of Russia's membership in the Council of Europe (CE) will not lead to the exclusion of the Russian judge from the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).  This explanation was given by the Council of Europe in a published statement regarding Russia.  The country continues to maintain membership in the organization, and communication channels will remain open.

Petr Tolstoy, who heads the delegation from Russia in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), spoke earlier about the uselessness of the Council of Europe as an organization if Russia is excluded from it.  According to Tolstoy, the removal of the largest country in the European world from the Council of Europe will lead to the loss of truth.

According to Vladimir Dzhabarov, representing the International Affairs Committee in the Federation Council, Russia's return to work in PACE will depend on the degree of the organization's readiness for cooperation.
Dzhabarov called the decision to suspend Russia's membership a ‘sanctions rage’ that could lead to the destruction of the oldest organization of the united Europe.
According to the senator, participation in the activities of PACE in the current circumstances is not a priority issue.  In the context of the ongoing military special operation in Ukraine, its completion is the priority task of the Russian authorities.  However, Dzhabarov recalled the annual contribution that the Russian Federation pays to the Council of Europe.  Its amount was ˆ32.5 thousand.  If the country is not fully restored in its membership, this fee will have to be returned.
