Criminal case was initiated over the death of 53 horses in Altai
Law enforcement officers of the Altai Territory opened a criminal case after the death of 53 horses. It is reported that unknown persons shot animals in the Petropavlovsk region.
The case was opened under Part 1 of Art. 167 - deliberate destruction of someone’s property. According to the ‘Incident Barnaul’ group in VKontakte, most of the killed animals were mares with foals. The herd was on free grazing and belonged to the family of Nikolai Drokov.
The owner told local media that he checked the horses 2-3 times a week. Before one of the visits, someone phoned Drokov and told him that the animals had been killed.
According to the owner, the horses were shot by the ‘sniper’s shots’ - 2 shots to the heart.
The damage for the killed herd is estimated at 5 million rubles. Law enforcers report that it is too early to talk about the specific cause of the death of the animals before an examination is carried out.
Nikolai Drokov also said that last year, unknown persons had already shot 7 horses, but the culprit could not be found. Drokov does not think that these are competitors, but there is a suspicion that the killing of animals could have happened due to hooliganism or revenge, as the horses trampled the crops.
