Central Bank of Russia demands to liquidate Proinvestbank
The Arbitration Court of the Perm Territory received a lawsuit from the Central Bank of Russia demanding the forcible liquidation of Proinvestbank.  The bank lost its license in April 2021.

The application was submitted to the court on April 18, and on April 19 it was registered in the filing cabinet of arbitration cases, perm.ru reports. So far, the date of the first hearing has not been determined yet, but the press service of the court said that the Deposit Insurance Agency could act as the bank's liquidator.

It is worth noting that earlier a class action lawsuit was filed with the court by the founders, creditors and top managers of Proinvestbank - they accused the Central Bank of inaction. As for the reason for their dissatisfaction, it is reported that the application for the liquidation of the financial organization should have been submitted 3 weeks ago, when the court approved the decision on the legality of revoking the bank's license.

Bankruptcy proceedings against Proinvestbank have already been introduced.

A temporary administration was appointed in the bank, which will be replaced by a liquidator. The Deposit Insurance Agency also acts as an interim administration.

Lenders and bank management tried to challenge the decision to revoke the license, but justice was not on their side. As a reason for the refusal, the Central Bank noted that Proinvestbank overestimated the value of the property in order to artificially demonstrate high financial performance and hide the real state of affairs. The bank also underestimated the amount of reserves for possible losses. The Central Bank, in turn, tried to apply measures - but they did not bring any results. As a result, a decision to revoke the license was made.
