Last Thursday, the German court of the federal state of Brandenburg began to consider the case against the centenary ex-guard of the concentration camp. Initially, it was assumed that the court hearings would be held in the district court of the city of Neuruppin, but later they were moved to another place. In addition, it was reported that all the necessary security measures would be observed during the consideration of the case, reports TASS.

It is known that the accused worked as a guard in a concentration camp for three years until February 1945 and allegedly participated in the killings.

According to preliminary data, the consideration of the case may take up to 22 court sessions, and the hearing will last until early 2022. However, given the age of the defendant, he will only take part in hearings for 2 - 2.5 hours.

The Sachsenhausen concentration camp opened its doors in July 1936 and existed for 9 years. Over one hundred thousand people died on its territory during this time, and the number of prisoners reached sixty thousand. In April 1945, Soviet troops entered the camp, where at that time there were about 30,000 people, and freed the prisoners, ending Nazi activities. Now the territory of Sachsenhausen is a museum and memorial complex.
