THREE TYPES OF REMOTE WORK WILL BE INTRODUCED INTO IN THE LABOR CODE OF RUSSIA

According to Sergei Neverov, the leader of the United Russia faction of the State Duma, it has been proposed to introduce three types of remote work into the Labor Code of Russia - remote, temporary remote and combined remote activities.

Prior to the final decision on amendments to the law, a large-scale public discussion is planned to be held, and the authorities separately note that the interests of workers, as a less protected side of the labor relations, will be taken into account first. At the same time, the importance of maintaining a balance in the form of economic interests of the employers has been noted as well.

Describing the types of remote work, Neverov indicated that remote work is defined as labor activity outside the office, branch or representative office. Temporary distance work can be introduced when the parties sign an employment contract or an additional agreement to it. Also, the law provides for the possibility of switching to such a format in connection with unforeseen circumstances. In this case, to simplify the procedure, a local regulatory act will suffice. An important clarification is that the wages for such types of work should be saved.

Combined remote work, in turn, will include work both in the office and outside of it.

In addition, the draft law provides for the regulation of working hours of remote employees in order to prevent the situations of working non - stop for unscrupulous employers.

As for the grounds for dismissal, innovations might be introduced here as well. It is proposed to make them common and prescribed for ordinary workers in the Labor Code of the Russian Federation. Now the circumstances, prescribed in the remote work contract concluded by the parties, might become the grounds for dismissal.

The draft law is planned to be submitted to the State Duma on Tuesday.
