THE NATIONALIZATION OF MAKFA WAS APPEALED
On May 8, 2024, it became known about the verdict of the Central District Court of Chelyabinsk, which converted the assets of the Makfa groups into state income. The Court of First Instance thus satisfied the claim filed by the Prosecutor General's Office. But the court's decision did not suit the participants in the trial. A representative of the owner of the criminal code "Assistance" Maxim Chigintsev appealed against him.
According to Interfax, referring to the words of lawyer Vyacheslav Plahotniuc, the appeal is aimed at protecting the interests of a citizen. No evidence of corruption offenses was presented against him in court.
Chigintsev became the owner of the UK "Assistance" in the fall of 2016. The transaction was executed by a notary. The defense believes that it is impossible to impose civil liability on him, provided for by the law "On Combating Corruption" (No. 273-FZ).
Currently, the buildings of the Prospekt company, headed by Chigintsev, are under the management of the UK "Assistance". In Chelyabinsk, the organization owns large real estate, including 37 shopping malls.
In early April 2024, Rusbankrot already covered the process initiated against the Makfa group. The basis was the corrupt activities of the owners of the organization Vadim Belousov and Mikhail Yurevich.
Violating the established norms, they engaged in business, having parliamentary powers. Yurevich also managed to work as the Chelyabinsk mayor, and then as the governor of the region (2010-2014). Belousov was elected to the State Duma, having the status of a deputy from 2011 to 2023.
Vadim Belousov was found guilty of accepting a bribe related to patronage of a road construction group of companies. The amount of the bribe received as a result of collusion with other persons is about 25 billion. Since August 2022, the ex-deputy has been on the international wanted list. Mikhail Yurevich, who also left the Russian Federation, is suspected of receiving a bribe in the amount of 26 million, transferred by the Minister of Health Vitaly Teslenko. In total, 33 organizations and 13 individuals, including family members of Yurevich and Belousov, are being investigated in the Makfa case.
The case of the nationalization of Makfa was not transferred to the arbitration court, ensuring a closed mode of its consideration. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the value of the Makfa group is 46 billion, providing about 41 billion in annual revenue and 13.6 billion in gross profit. Makfa JSC is one of the five largest global pasta manufacturers.
