TAX AUTHORITIES TIGHTEN CONTROL OVER LARGE DEBTORS
As follows from the letter from the Federal Tax Service (FTS) to its territorial authorities, the latter now have to send monthly data on taxpayers whose debt on fees exceeded 50 million rubles. The tax systematizes the work on large debtors in order to replenish the budget and collect arrears in a timely manner. According to experts, such analytical activities will also allow the authorities to investigate which sectors of the economy have been more affected by sanctions and need state support.

As it became known to Izvestia, territorial authorities will transmit information about individuals and legal entities, individual entrepreneurs, foreign and budgetary organizations. Information about debtors undergoing bankruptcy proceedings will not be transferred.

Debtors can be removed from the list if they repay the debt in full or in part. This can also happen if they are granted a deferral (installment payment) on the debt or in the case of migration of the debtor. In the latter case, the taxpayer is registered with the tax authorities of the receiving region.

Thanks to the measures introduced, the tax authorities can assess the causes of debt and decide how much state support is needed for debtors. With the introduction of a Single Tax Account, the number of debtors decreased by 1 million organizations and 11 million individuals.

The need to tighten control over the collection of tax debts is explained by the importance of timely debt collection or launching bankruptcy procedures.

Tax authorities used to monitor large debtors, but now the Federal Tax Service systematizes and centralizes the process of collecting information. This will help to improve the quality of control and reduce the influence of human factors.
