AGROHOLDING CO-FOUNDER OF SUPERJOB MAY GO BANKRUPT
KPI Agro, a well–known agricultural holding company in Russia, was one step away from bankruptcy. The reason for this is the debt obligations of the organization in the amount of about 1 billion. According to experts, the company has been trying to find investors for several years, experiencing a lack of funds to support its business activities.
The company is engaged in the production of various crops in the Volga region, has 50 thousand hectares of land, but its financial situation leaves much to be desired. Over the past three years, KPI Agro has been unable to attract enough investment to continue normal operations and expand production. This long-term crisis in the company led to a significant decrease in its profits and the inability to pay off creditors.
The business, which is co-founded by SuperJob co-founder Sergey Gabestro, has been involved in financial litigation. On February 3, 2025, Agromarket filed a lawsuit against the holding's parent company (Agroholding KiPiAi), demanding that it be declared insolvent. The company appealed to the Nizhny Novgorod arbitration Court (case no. A43-2761/2025).
In 2023, the defendant reduced profits by about 30%. It amounted to only 70 million. This was another signal that the holding was in a difficult situation. Despite this, experts believe that the business is worth about 1.5 billion. In negotiations that the organization could conduct with possible purchasers, the amount could be even higher. This indicates possible prospects for sale.
If additional bankruptcy applications are filed by other creditors, the company's prospects for overcoming the crisis may deteriorate significantly. Lawyers suggest that despite a possible debt restructuring or an installment agreement, the bankruptcy decision, like previous litigation, will raise additional questions about the future of the company and its assets.
This is not the first serious financial crisis for KPI Agro holding. Even taking into account the assets and potential, declining profits and the inability to attract the necessary investments jeopardize the company's future operations. The legal proceedings are expected to continue in the coming months, determining the future fate of the holding and its possible creditors.
