THE CENTRAL BANK IS PREPARING CHANGES ON THE INCREASE IN FINES FOR BANKS FOR FRAUD
THE CENTRAL BANK IS PREPARING CHANGES ON THE INCREASE IN FINES FOR BANKS FOR FRAUD
The Bank of Russia plans to increase fines to banks for defrauding customers to 0.1% of capital. This is reported by Izvestia, citing sources close to the Central Bank.
According to the publication, the fines being developed by the Central Bank for unscrupulous banks will be comparable to penalties for violation of anti-money laundering legislation. Today, large institutions may face fines ranging from several hundred million rubles to about 6 billion rubles for violations of anti-laundering legislation.
Recall that now banks that cheat customers face a fine of 20 thousand to 40 thousand rubles.
Experts note that such a significant increase in the amount of punishment will contribute to the refusal of banks from unfair actions. In their opinion, the planned changes will change the interaction of credit institutions and citizens for the better.
