It became known that the State Duma will consider a draft law to reduce the cost of funeral services. It is expected that the prices will become lower due to the increased competition in the industry.
The author of the draft law, the representative of the State Duma Committee on Transport and Construction, Anton Zharkov, told Parlamentskaya newspaper that the maintenance of cemeteries would become the responsibility of the regions to increase the state control. At the same time, only companies and funeral agents that have signed agreements with the local authorities will be able to perform the activities.
The leak of information about the facts of death by officials will be officially prohibited.
So far, relatives of the deceased are often attacked by the funeral agents who receive information about the death and impose their services. The order for the organizing of the funeral is proposed to be carried out through the state control centers.
According to the draft law, funeral companies will be obliged to comply with the state requirements - for the availability of premises and equipment. It is proposed to regulate the burial process, in particular, on a reimbursable basis. Zharkov noted that when granting burial sites, the money should go to the budget, but not to"someone's pocket."
The author of the project explained that the Russians would be able to receive better ritual services, there would be fewer unscrupulous market participants, and the documents received for burial would not have to be reissued.
Zharkov added that the initiative was developed due to the numerous complaints from citizens, since ritual agents pull out the money by any means. At cemeteries, representatives of the "funeral business" may not let the bus pass - relatives have to pay. There is an active imposition of the purchase of monuments and fences up to threats, and the story about the fact that a representative of a funeral agency is on the doorstep of the house before an ambulance has already become a sad classic.
