State Duma MPs proposed to limit the sale of alcohol during the holidays
The deputy of the lower house of parliament, Sultan Khamzayev, voiced the idea of   curbing the sale of alcohol on New Year's holidays.  In his opinion, the measure is necessary to ensure that the Russians do not ‘get drunk’ and do not abuse their own health.

According to the parliamentarian, the situation with alcohol consumption during the long January holidays is already reaching a critical level, and it should not be left at the mercy of entrepreneurs, who sell these products.

The deputy called alcohol ‘a fantastic destroyer of life and health’ of Russians.

According to him, some citizens simply lose their measure, which is why it is so important to introduce the proposed restrictions, RIA Novosti reports.

As an alternative to ‘drinking holidays’ , the MP proposed all sorts of entertainment events, which should be free for residents of the country during non-working days.

According to Khamzaev, people will not drink at home, but will go to the cinema, swimming pools, museums or theaters.

The deputy also assured that a meeting of the working group had already been scheduled for the middle of the month, during which a discussion was announced, including of the issue of selling alcoholic beverages during the non-working New Year's week. According to him, the invitees may include representatives of various government agencies, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Health.
