The Ministry of Industry and Trade came up with a proposal according to which copying and photographing of books and printed publications prior to sale should be prohibited. The innovation will affect the retail outlets, and it should protect the rights of sellers as well.
The authors of the initiative believe that along with the development of technologies, it is necessary to strengthen the protection of the publishers' rights. How exactly the law will operate is not clear yet, still the buyer is still able to have access to the content of the book / print publication before the purchase.
Another initiative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade was the design of price tags - they can become not only paper-based, but also electronic.
It should be noted that at the end of 2019, there was an increase in the turnover of printed books by 3.4% in Russia. At the same time, the popularity of e-books increased by 35%.
