ROC expressed its disagreement with the need to adopt a bill on domestic violence.  In its opinion, the operation of the law can lead to a large number of abuses and deprivation of families for children, including due to poverty.

This position was voiced by Priest Fyodor (Lukyanov).  According to him, the most sensitive in this issue is the situation when children are taken from their families by the guardianship authorities - recently, such incidents have only increased.  At the same time, the cases of deprivation of families for children for financial reasons (due to the poverty of their parents) are becoming more widespread.

Lukyanov noted that the adoption of the law will lead to an aggravation of the existing situation, since the document contains definitions of economic and psychological violence among other things.

In different regions, the norm can be interpreted differently, which in turn can lead to violations of the basic rights of citizens and mass abuses, reports TASS.

The draft law on domestic violence was first proposed for discussion in the fall of 2019.  Over a few years, the document gathered a lot of supporters and opponents and was not finalized.  Parliamentarian Valentina Matvienko assured that the Federation Council will return to the issue of working on the bill after the pandemic.
