Russia may impose fines for refusal of vaccination
The head of the Russian Federal State Agency for Health and Consumer Rights Anna Popova said that the representatives of a department were considering the possibility of introducing fines for refusing to vaccinate.  At the same time, the experience of other countries and the effectiveness of this method of influence are being checked.

This idea was voiced by the head of the department in the film ‘Dangerous Virus’, which was released on the channel ‘Russia 1’. Popova noted that first, it was necessary to make sure of the effectiveness of the proposed instrument of influence, and only then to introduce a measure.

If we talk about international experience, then the first European countries that made a decision on such actions were Austria and Greece.

In Greece, a monthly fine of ˆ 100 will be introduced for people over 60 years old, who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19.  The measure is necessary due to the presence of over half a million unvaccinated people whose age exceeds the specified threshold.

As for Austria, a decision was made there to impose various kinds of sanctions for refusing to vaccinate from February 2022.  The measure will affect not only the elderly, but also all other citizens aged over fourteen.  The penalty is a fine of ˆ 3,600 or imprisonment for up to four months.

However, opponents of vaccines are being fought not only in the EU countries.

In Indonesia, the issue of introducing rather large fines is being discussed.  The size of the financial sanction reaches 5 million rupees, which is more than $ 350.  According to Deputy Governor of Jakarta Ahmad Riz Patria, the imposed financial sanctions are the last resort for those who refuse to vaccinate.  What is more, the authorities consider the refusal of social assistance to those who were not vaccinated as a measure. A decree on this was adopted last month.
