LDPR deputies have prepared a bill, according to which all students in Russia should receive the right to free public transport. We are talking about full-time students.
According to Ura.ru, the bill has already been submitted to the State Duma. The explanatory note to the document says that the initiative can become a measure of state support for students - they will get the opportunity to travel for free at the federal level.
Free public transport for students exists, but this privilege can be used only by certain categories of citizens.
However, the deputies recalled that absolutely all students use transport and that it takes a decent part of the students' modest budget. If the initiative is approved, changes will be made to Article 40 of the Federal Law ‘On Education in the Russian Federation’.
The innovation will affect students of higher and secondary education. The document also notes that the category of public transport does not include taxis and mini-buses.
If the lower house of parliament approves the bill, then it may come into force as early as January 1, 2022.
