Milonov called for a ban on St. Valentine's Day
State Duma representative Vitaly Milonov believes that the celebration of St.Valentine's Day is unacceptable in educational and public institutions.

According to RIA Novosti, Milonov believes that the celebration of Valentine's Day in Russia comes ‘not from a great mind’. The politician believes that Russians are ‘not Papuans’ and therefore should not adopt a cult from the Western world.
Milonov added that the holiday had lost touch with the cultural and spiritual context of the event.
It is worth noting that according to the Superjob service, over 15 years, the popularity of St.Valentine's Day in the Russian Federation has decreased by 4 times.  This year only 12% of respondents are going to celebrate the holiday.  For comparison, in 2007, every second Russian celebrated St.Valentine's Day.

Supporters of the holiday are more often women under 34 years old.  However, every third man in a relationship announced plans to give his soul mate flowers.
