MEAT TAX MAY BE INTRODUCED IN RUSSIA
According to Dmitry Peskov, Putin's special envoy for digital and technological development, meat tax may be eventually introduced in Russia.  This measure is associated with global warming, which also affects the livestock industry.

According to the official, over time, the carbon tax introduced by the European Union may be applied to other sources of carbon dioxide, including animal husbandry.

In this case, the introduction of a tax on meat is possible, reports Izvestia.

Last month, the European Union announced the imminent introduction of the so-called carbon tax, which will have to be paid to suppliers of a number of goods from the EU countries. We are talking about a project for cross-border carbon regulation, which provides for levying a tax on importers of goods that are produced with large-scale emissions of carbon dioxide into the Earth's atmosphere.

By means of this regulation, the EU intends to protect its own producers from competition, since they already pay taxes for their carbon footprint.

Soon, the importers will be required to purchase digital certificates for carbon emitted into the atmosphere from the European Union in order to continue supplying goods. First of all, the innovation will affect the producers of steel and aluminum, as well as cement, electricity and mineral fertilizers.
