MAY PUBLIC HOLIDAYS IN RUSSIA MAY BE EXTENDED
The Ministry of Labor is considering the issue of extending the May holidays. RIA Novosti was informed about this by the head of the department Anton Kotyakov.

“I know that we have proposals, including, in my opinion, from the deputies body, but they are still under consideration,” said the minister. Earlier, the leader of the Just Russia faction, Sergei Mironov, spoke positively about this idea. The deputy proposed adding three days between the May holidays by reducing the New Year holidays.

The presidential press office could not confirm the existence of plans to extend the May 2021. “We, frankly, have work plans for this time, for the moment, there are no news that this is being prepared,” answered Dmitry Peskov on April 12.

Federal Service for Labour and Employment Rostrud also spoke about the increase in the number of days off in May. The federal service explained that the initiative at the moment may come from the employers, however, the associated reduction in the working hours may affect wages.

This year, May public holidays, according to official information, will last a total of six days. Since May 1 and 9 fall on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, Monday 3 and May 10, declared as holidays, will be added to them. The work days on Friday 30 April and 7 May will be shortened.
