Fines for evading vaccination against Covid-19 proposed to be introduced in Russia
Virologist Alexander Lukashev suggested introduction of fines for evading vaccination in Russia.  He believes that treating people from COVID-19 costs the state large sums, therefore, motivation is required to increase the number of vaccinated people.

The statement was made on the air of the ‘Moscow speaking’ radio station, and during the speech, Lukashev noted the availability and effectiveness of the existing vaccine, which prevents cases of severe disease, as well as death from coronavirus.

Speaking about the need to introduce fines, the doctor compared a refusal of vaccination with smoking and drinking alcohol.

Lukashev recalled that people have been paying excise taxes on cigarettes and alcohol for a long time, which, in his opinion, is a common practice, since these bad habits subsequently put additional burden on healthcare industry.

Speaking about the amount of the fine, the virologist suggested making it equal to 5 thousand rubles per month. In his opinion, it is important to introduce a measure at least for those who have an increased risk of infection.

The idea has already been depreciated at the highest level.

Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the introduction of such a rule would contradict the social character of the state, reports RIA Novosti. Senator of the Federation Council Vladimir Krugly also spoke out against the idea. In his opinion, citizens need to be persuaded and encouraged to get vaccinated without any fines.
