Divorcing spouses may be obliged to go through mediation
Divorcing spouses may be obliged to go through mediation
The Commissioner for Children's Rights in the Republic of Tatarstan, Irina Volynets, came up with a corresponding initiative. It is expected that the measure will help to reduce the number of divorces.
Irina Volynets sent a proposal to the State Duma, as well as to the Supreme Court of Russia and addressed to its chairman, Vyacheslav Lebedev. According to Mediator.RF, referring to RT, if the initiative is approved, the spouses will be obliged to use the services of independent mediators to try to find compromises in the disputes that have arisen.
It is assumed that the mediation will help to keep the family together and protect the psyche of children from shocks.
Irina Volynets believes that spouses do not turn to mediators on their own, but if this obligation is introduced at the legislative level, the number of divorces may be reduced.
Volynets called mediation an important tool for the pre-trial settlement of disputes. She notes that if the procedure is introduced, the demographic policy of the Russian Federation will improve, in addition, the burden on the courts will decrease, and the psycho-emotional state of children will not be traumatized.
