The corresponding statement was made by the President Milos Zeman. He noted that these measures will probably have to be introduced in order to exclude the possibility of the re-entry of coronavirus into the Czech Republic.
The president commented on a possible development of the events in an interview with a local radio station. Milos Zeman said that he was afraid of new infections if the borders had been opened earlier. It is worth noting that the president’s opinion diverges from the position, voiced by Czech Foreign Minister Tomas Petržicek - the politician said earlier that the issue of opening the borders for the Czech businessmen, who need to maintain the international relations, will be considered in the nearest future. After that, a phased opening of the borders is possible, with Austria and Slovakia first.
More than 6.5 thousand patients with coronaviruses were registered in the Czech Republic, 186 of them died. The country has introduced an emergency state, and the borders are closed.
It is worth noting that earlier the President of France Emmanuel Macron raised the issueof a long borders closure - he said that the Schengen zone would probably be closed until October 31, 2020.
