Confiscated goods may be given away to needy Russians
The Federal Property Management Agency supported the idea of transferring the confiscated goods to low-income Russians. The department is ready to work out the initiative and change the legislative standards.
According to Izvestia, the initiative to support needy citizens came from the Popular Front in early August. The goods confiscated by customs are usually destroyed. Similar measures are applied to goods that could not be sold at auction.
The activists noticed that while needy people do not have even the most necessary things, the state is destroying whole lots of valuable goods.
The Popular Front stressed out that the transfer of confiscated property to the poor could become an integral part of social policy. It is especially worth considering the fact that due to the pandemic, many pensioners, disabled people and large families found themselves in difficult situations due to a lack of essential goods.
The organization proposed to transfer confiscated goods, which are recognized as suitable and are not prohibited for sale on the territory of the Russian Federation, to the unprotected segments of the population. It is assumed that charitable foundations can become operators for the distribution of goods.
The Federal Property Management Agency is responsible for the disposal of confiscated goods in Russia.
The department believes that the issue raised really deserves attention, and therefore it will have to be worked out. It is assumed that representatives of the Ministry of Finance, customs and charitable organizations will also participate in meetings on the transfer of confiscated goods to needy citizens.
