The State Duma voiced an initiative to limit the use of images of minors for advertising drinks with sugar and fast food. The corresponding letter was sent to the Minister of Healthcare Mikhail Murashko.
According to RT, the proposal was developed by the Deputy Yevgeny Fedorov. He stressed out that frequent consumption of fast food and sugar-containing drinks is harmful to health, this also applies to children. The official recalled that a similar position has been repeatedly stated by health experts.
Fedorov believes that minors are often used in such advertisements, which attracts the interest of the children's age group.
To protect children from harmful food and protect their health, the deputy proposes to oblige fast food manufacturers not to use minors in advertising. Thus, there will be no message to children about purchasing dangerous products.
At the moment, images of children cannot be used in advertisements for gambling, alcohol and weapons. Previously, Russian legislators already tried to develop an initiative that would oblige fast food manufacturers to write the composition of products in detail, as well as to post pictures about danger to health by analogy with packs of cigarettes.
