Sanctions drove Russian delivery service Buyk to bankruptcy in US
The company, founded by Russians Vyacheslav Bocharov and Rodion Shishkov in the United States, has filed for bankruptcy and liquidation.  It was launched by the founders of the Samokat service in the fall of 2021.  And although the owners of the food delivery service themselves did not fall under personal sanctions, it became impossible to develop the business.

After the start of the military operation of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, the owners of the company began to have problems with funding from Russia.  Due to this, the company filed an appeal to the court, asking for bankruptcy protection.

Representatives of the company said that the organization stops its work on the territory of the North American states.  The warehouse premises owned by the company (38 units), most of which are located in New York, are planned to be put up for sale.
Prior to this, the company planned to develop the business in other states, coming to Chicago in 2022.
It is known that on March 9, 900 employees were fired from the company, including Buyk CEO James Walker.  According to the American media, the company tried to stay afloat, but did not find suitable options for continuing activities.  It is known that competitors represented by DoorDash, Gorillas and Gopuff have already received an offer to buy the service.

It is reported that on March 11, another service founded by Bocharov and Shishkov, the Citymobil taxi, also stopped working.  The refusal of shareholders to develop investments is indicated as the main reason.  We should recall that Samokat is the brainchild of O2O Holding, owned by Sberbank and VK.  According to 2020 data, the company's turnover was more than 9.7 billion rubles.
Buyk's assets are about $10 million.
The company managed to get a loan of $6.5 million for bankruptcy proceedings.  It is planned that $ 5 million of this amount will be received by couriers and employees of the company.  In total, over the period of its existence in the United States, the company has attracted about $46 million in investments.
