Russian air cargo carriers may go bankrupt
Russian companies engaged in the transportation of goods by air may collapse in the nearest future.  Experts come to such a disappointing conclusion by analyzing statistical data on the volume of goods transported in recent months.  The main factor is the restrictions imposed by the US and EU countries, which left the industry without work.

Specialists from the Federal Air Transport Agency compared the volume of cargo transportation carried out by leading companies in January and February 2022 with data for March.  If in the first months of this year, firms even increased the mass of transported goods by 208.6 thousand tons (that is, by 6% compared to the beginning of 2021), then in March, there were almost no flights.  At the same time, the situation affected all the leading organizations included in the Volga-Dnepr, Aeroflot, S7 and Pobeda groups.
The main reason for stopping flights is the Boeing liners, issued under leasing agreements.
It turned out to be impossible to fly in the conditions of a possible arrest of aircraft.  On March 28, An-124 Ruslan belonging to the Volga-Dnepr company was arrested in Canada.  The heavy transport liner ended up in airspace closed to Russian aircraft.

Canada, the United States and European countries were the main markets where Russian carriers flew.  Not only aircraft, but also the cargo they delivered to Russia fell under the sanctions.  Among them, there are equipment for energetics, space exploration, development of shipbuilding.
Experts note that Southeast Asia, the countries of which have not imposed sanctions against Russia, could become a survival option for cargo carriers.
However, Russian aircraft are not waited for in these markets, since they are filled with the countries’ own companies.

The domestic market of the Russian Federation does not have such a demand that would painlessly allow it to stay afloat.  Without financial support from the state, companies in such a situation are threatened with bankruptcy.  At the same time, consumers may not feel the full depth of the current problem, since cargoes will continue to arrive in Russia.  However, they will no longer be delivered by Russian, but by Chinese or Turkish companies.
