The Franco-Italian-American Automobile Alliance, which was created last year as a result of the merger of FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) and PSA Group, announced the suspension of cars production on the territory of the Russian Federation.  The company explains its decision with logistical difficulties and the effect of international sanctions, to which the company lawfully obeys.

In Russia, the company has operated a “PSMA Rus” plant in Kaluga since 2012, producing brand cars of Peugeot, Citro¸n, Opel, Jeep and Fiat.  70% of the enterprise was owned by Stellantis, while the rest was controlled by the Japanese Mitsubishi brand.

Production at the plant was suspended in early April due to the lack of the necessary spare car parts.  The company's press service announced plans to suspend the operations at the end of March.
In the automotive market of the country, the company occupied about 1%, but globally, Stellantis is in fourth place.
According to experts, more than ˆ550 million was invested in the work of the plant. Among the cars produced at the plant, along with the passenger cars, compact minivans Peugeot Partner, Opel Combo and Japanese SUVs Outlander and Pajero Sport were produced.

The company produced many cars for export purposes.  Last year became a time of almost doubling the production volumes for the Kaluga enterprise.  11 thousand commercial cars were produced. The number of cars sold in Russia itself (18,526 cars) increased almost 65%.

Since the end of 2021, the Peugeot Expert, Opel Vivaro and Citroen Jumpy brands have been assembled at the plant.  This year, the company planned to start assembling Fiat Scudo cars.  However, parts for assembling cars in the warehouses were exhausted to zero.
