GERMAN TUNING STUDIO CARLSSON DECLARED BANKRUPT
Carlsson Automobiltechnik GmbH, founded in 1989, has decided to wind down its activities. The German company failed to cope with the financial difficulties that hit a few years ago.

The other day it became known that the company was put up for sale. The company has already sold out a collection of classic cars and stopped tuning. If there are no investors willing to invest in the business, Carlsson expects complete liquidation.

The tuning studio was founded by the Hartge brothers 34 years ago. The workshop received its brand name in honor of the Swedish rally participant Ingvar Karlsson, who collaborated with the auto repair shop, who died in 2009. The company specialized in tuning Mercedes-Benz cars.

In 2007, entrepreneur Mathias Albert became the owner of the auto-atelier and the organization began to have financial problems. Five years later, the 70% stake was sold to the Zhongsheng Group of companies from Hong Kong. However, the dealer holding has not managed to bring the company out of the financial impasse. In 2015, the organization went bankrupt. The tuning studio was acquired by Sambo Motors, the largest supplier of components for Hyundai Motor Group.

Carlsson's main office was moved to Saarlouis, the center of Germany's steel industry district. It was decided to sell the main business, and make the activities of the Carlsson Peninsula subsidiary brand, engaged in tuning Hyundai and Kia car brands, a priority. The company continued to service Mercedes-Benz cars, but only as part of light cosmetic repairs. New projects that the company was famous for earlier were no longer launched.

Experts attribute Carlsson's ruin to the situation in the mass market. The industry is gradually switching to the production of electric vehicles, for which the range of tuning services is very limited. And although the need for exclusive cars persists, finding your place in changing circumstances is not so easy.
