German manufacturer of condoms for Russians went bankrupt
The factory CPR GmbH from the Lower Saxony, which produced contraceptives, declared insolvency. German experts call anti-Russian sanctions the main ground for this. Lawyer Karina Schwartz has been appointed an interim manager in the case.
The company, founded in 1987, annually produced up to 200 million contraceptives. Moreover, Russia was one of the main export destinations. Deliveries to it reached 25% of the total sales volume.
Experts suggest that this factor could have caused the bankruptcy, since the sanctions imposed by the EU countries against Russia's actions on the territory of Ukraine made deliveries impossible.
Before the start of the military special operation carried out by the leadership of the Russian Federation, the head of CPR Kesselring confidently stated that the enterprise would continue to grow steadily. Business processes seemed streamlined and profitable.
In 2021, Kesselring said that condoms were not the best product group to generate profits. However, the company's products continued to be sold in pharmacies and shops. At the same time, the head of the company noted that the pharmacy trade in condoms was practically reduced to zero, which was associated with a decrease in traffic and a poor assortment.
Specialists note that CPR specialized in the production of condoms under its own trademarks. The fact is that by the time the organization appeared on the market of contraceptives, it was actually divided between large brands.
