Football center in Sochi went bankrupt
The Krasnodar Arbitration Court issued a decision on the bankruptcy of the Sputnik-Sport football center.  The initiator of the insolvency of the training center for national teams was the recreation complex ‘Sputnik’ (RC "Sputnik’).  The amount of the sports organization's debt to the plaintiff is about 6.7 million rubles.

Sputnik-Sport was founded in Sochi in 2006.  Its founders were three organizations, including RC ‘Sputnik’ and the RFU.  To date, the owner of the football center is Pavel Morkovsky, and the beneficiary of RC ‘Sputnik’  is his business partner Andrey Umansky.

As the ex-head of the football center Yury Marushchak told reporters, the organization has been closed since March 14.  In 2017, it acted as a base for training athletes for the World Cup, the Polish national team had trainings in the center.
Since then, the owner has been thinking about its liquidation, since the interests of the owner are not related to sports, and the organization  ended last few years with losses.
The football center, sources say, was tried to be sold for 250 million rubles, along with the entire infrastructure.  The territory of the complex (5.4 hectares) includes five fields for football competitions.  Experts suggest that the current insolvency lawsuit was filed with the intention to withdraw the site from non-core assets for the owner and turn it into a tourist infrastructure facility.  At the same time, football fields are unlikely to fit into the plans for reconstruction, which means that they can be eliminated.

We should remind our readers that the owner of the ‘Sputnik’ recreation complex, on whose behalf a bankruptcy claim was filed earlier, is the owner of the Alean group of companies, which is developing a network of family resorts.  The Sochi Sputnik Hotel, which first opened its doors in 1962, was acquired by Alean Group of Companies in 2017.  The official amount of the transaction was not disclosed, but experts estimate it at 1.2 billion rubles.
