‘City of Masters’ ñompany from Tula plunges into bankruptcy
The chain of branded stores of the Tula region, operating under the brand of the ‘City of Masters’ is in danger of going bankrupt. Teplo-Ogarevsky Meat Processing Plant, which supplied its products to retail counters, came under surveillance in September. Earlier, in March 2021, another legal entity, Tula Pioneer, followed the same path.
The residents of Tula learned about serious problems of both companies in August 2020. Both organizations actually form one business, which until 2020 had been headed by Igor Lipgart. The head of the companies died and the shelves of the ‘City of Masters’ stores turned out to be empty. Only dairy products and cheeses were on them, while meat products disappeared.
The change in leadership that took place did not bring the companies any luck. Tatiana Lozhkina, who headed both enterprises, tried to carry out a PR campaign to restore the brand's image. Since mid-October 2020, social media has been filled with content through which consumers have been convinced that the plant has successfully recovered, and store shelves are about to show a wide range of products again.
However, at the end of 2020, the profitability of enterprises fell significantly. Teplo-Ogarevsky Meat Processing Plant showed a profit of 6.5 million rubles, which is two times less than in 2019. Revenue also fell by 22.3%.
By the end of 2020, the regional prosecutor's office had to intervene in the activities of the enterprise. It turned out that the company owed its employees almost 8.5 million rubles, which were not paid on time during the period of forced downtime.
One of the creditors of the ‘City of Masters’ was the ‘SIEMENS FINANCE’ company, which demanded to withdraw the ‘leased items’ from the meat-packing plant through the court. As a result of the litigation, it became known that the plant had not made the payments under the leasing contracts, having accumulated debts. The result was the observation procedures, under which both companies were taken one by one. For Teplo-Ogarevsky Meat Processing Plant, the observation is planned to be completed by March 2022.
