Canned fish factories on the verge of bankruptcy
The production of canned fish in the country can be reduced to zero due to the lack of cheap loans and government support for the industry.  Such a conclusion was made by the top manager of the "For the Motherland" holding, engaged in fishery and processing of fish in the Kaliningrad region.

According to Sergei Lutarevich, the chairman of the board of directors, the authorities have not yet included the industry in the number of social ones.  And this is despite the fact that canned fish continues to be the main ingredient for making soups and one of the basic sources of everyday nutrition for a significant part of Russians with low and average incomes.

In an interview with Interfax, Lutarevich called the state strategy for the industry imperfect and in need of upgrade.  According to him, the unavailability of cheaper loans, which chicken meat processors (13.5%) have already got, leads to the fact that canned food producers are forced to apply for loans, annually paying for them more than 23%.  This leads the industry to collapse and termination of production.
Against the backdrop of sanctions, fuel, canning tins and tomato paste have risen in price, Lutarevich notes.
The price of vegetable oil has tripled since the beginning of February 2022.  Moreover, canning factories are forced to buy these and other ingredients only by advance payment.

However, trading companies pay for deliveries with a delay of several months (usually 60 days).  As a result, factories are left without working capital, producing millions of cans of canned fish in various regions of the country.

Will the Government of the Russian Federation hear the opinion of the entrepreneur?  "For the Motherland" group of companies is the largest business structure in the Kaliningrad region engaged in fishery and processing fish.  The holding has 9 sea vessels in its assets, and the company's production volume is 54 million cans per year, including more than fifty varieties of canned fish products.
