BIOTECH PHARMACEUTICAL HOLDING MAY BECOME BANKRUPT. THE LAWSUITS CONTINUE
The total amount of claims against the company in 2022 has already exceeded 1 billion rubles.

The pharmaceutical holding of the former Penza senator Boris Shpigel "Biotek" continues to receive applications from creditors intending to apply to arbitration with applications for insolvency of the company. In October, the firm has already received three such threats. Information about this on Fedresurs was published by the bank Saint Petersburg and two manufacturers of medicines (Ellara and Grotex).

Experts associate these reports with the financial problems of the holding and reduced government orders.

The firm has not signed new contracts since May 2022. One of the risk factors that market participants do not want to deal with Biotech may be a case of bribery. In addition to the spouses Boris and Evgenia Shpigel, the former head of the region Ivan Belozertsev appears in it.

According to Vedomosti, the total amount of claims against Biotech companies exceeded 1.1 billion rubles. This is 6 times more than the amount of payments that the arbitration awarded to the holding for the previous 4 years. Since the beginning of 2022, the number of lawsuits against companies has exceeded several dozen. Some of them, in the amount of 900 million rubles, have already found support in court.

One of the major creditors of the holding is Johnson & Johnson. Her claims (more than 600 million rubles), which arose in connection with the non-fulfillment of the delivery contract, were partially supported by the court. Biotech is obliged to pay 418 million to the pharmaceutical company. Rusbankrot told about this case at the stage of applying to the court.

Also, as TASS reported, on October 24, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation approved the indictment in the case of bribery. The participants of the crime are charged with an amount of 30 million rubles. According to investigators, the bribe allowed the Pharmacy company to receive profitable state contracts, and the Biotech holding company to have patronage from the authorities in the region.
