Amazon will shut down its Alexa.com ranking service
Amazon Corporation has made a decision to shut down the Alexa service, which has been performing global ranking of Internet websites for more than a quarter of a century.  The service has been actively used by webmasters all over the world, allowing them to optimize websites’ performance and analyze web traffic.

The startup that developed Alexa appeared in 1996.  Its name reminded the users of the history of the legendary Library of Alexandria.  In 1999, it was acquired by the internet giant.
Experts note that the peak of popularity of the company's brainchild fell on the 2000s.
In particular, the service used the web analytics tool Alexa Rank, which allows the website owner to keep track of the number of visits and web browsing by users.

Semrush platform data shows that the traffic of the Internet service has been decreasing lately.  This, according to a number of experts, is forcing Amazon to refuse to support the service.  The company expects to completely shut down the website on May 1, 2022.  At the same time, paid SEO analytics tools will be available to users until April 1.  Subscribers will be able to transfer the collected data to other platforms.  The related technical instructions on how to do this have already been released by Amazon.
The company has already stopped supporting its API on December 8, 2021.
Information that by liquidating the service, Amazon is trying to achieve the release of the domain occupied by it for its voice assistant,  began to actively spread among the users on the Internet.  Ironically, it was named exactly the same and, apparently, could become very popular in the very near future.
