The Arbitration Court of Moscow will consider the claim of ‘Maxim’ taxi service against FAS
The issue concerns the activities of the Chinese taxi aggregator ‘Didi’, which, according to ‘Maxim’, is dumping prices for services. The claim was submitted on behalf of two enterprises of the company at once - from the cities of Kursk and Kazan. The first meeting will take place at the end of October.
The trial was preceded by an attempt of ‘Maxim’ taxi to challenge the actions of a new player in the taxi market with the FAS, writes
Kommersant.
The applicant referred to the price dumping, pointing out that ‘Didi’ probably payed extra to drivers because the cost of transportation does not correspond to the market prices.
However, considering the situation, Federal Antimonopoly Service did not find any violations on the behalf of ‘Didi’, which led to a lawsuit.
The position of the regulator was that the taxi market in Russia is highly concentrated and in order to get there, large investments are required. In addition, the FAS stated that ‘Didi’s’ actions did not violate antimonopoly legislation and among other things, the company did not dominate in the market.
‘Didi’ service appeared in Russia last year, and during this time, it expanded its network to 38 cities.
However, the price dumping is not the only complaint about the aggregator. This summer, the National Taxi Council presented the problem of processing personal data received from Russians abroad to Vladimir Putin, reports
Forbes. The company itself does not recognize these claims.
