Obscene language in online cinemas may be banned

At the Public Council which was held by the Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications held the day before, the issue of protection the younger generation from harmful information was discussed - the meeting participants supported the idea of   the need to introduce a number of legislative amendments in this area.

The Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications announced an initiative to amend the law in order to protect the younger generation from the cultural and moral deviations.

The chairman of the State Duma committee on information policy, information technology and communications, Alexander Khinshtein, who was present at the council, considered it necessary to impose a ban on the use of obscene language in online cinemas, reports Interfax. It means that protection of underaged audience may not be limited to the age marking of the content, but will be supplemented by a number of prohibitions, including those concerning obscene language.

In addition, Khinshtein noted that at the moment, the idea of   introduction of amendments is at the concept stage, so it is too early to talk about any draft laws that have been formed.
